Jurassic Age

Jurassic Age

Sui Jianguo’s Jurassic Age (2006) greets all visitors to Phoenix Art Museum and features a large-scale red dinosaur encased in a cage, with the words “Made in China” emblazoned on its belly. This striking installation invites contemplation on globalization, commercialism, and restrictions on freedom. Crafted from bronze, steel, and industrial paint, the piece is part of the artist’s broader exploration of mass production, often referencing the aesthetics of factory-made toys.
