This ethereal altarpiece by Luca Giordano (Italian, 1634–1705) was painted in 1672 after the artist visited Venice. Known to imitate the styles of various Renaissance masters, Giordano was the leading painter in late 17th-century Naples. The Annunciation is an homage to the great Venetian painter, Titian (Tiziano Vecellio) (Italian, ca. 1485/90?–1576).
